Employers have long complained that new entrants lack specific skills in numeracy and literacy, hence the need for this title.

c Costing labour as a proportion of an hour and Adding VAT/GST to a bill (Understand, use and calculate ratio and proportion, including problems involving scale)
d Calculating fractions of quantities (Understand and use equivalences between fractions, decimals and percentages)
e Calculating wage rates using formulae (Understand and use simple formulae and equations involving one- or two-step operations)
All of the work will be contextualised with the industry sector. There will also be screencast videos to support students. These videos will be licensed for use on the college intranet and in addition there will be extra support questions for those who need extra help.
