基本説明
This is a proposal for a three-volume encyclopedia of the Roman army, which is the subject of perennial interest for both the scholar and the interested lay reader. The volumes will cover the army from its beginnings in the early Roman republic through late antiquity, with the emphasis on the imperial period, during the which the army was at its largest and for which the evidence is greatest. The Encyclopedia will include entries on all aspects of the army: weapons, tactics, battles, legions, sites, commanders, army life, veterans, etc. It will be the only work of its kind available.
