Full Description
A salient feature of the organ's response to stres and the molecular heat shock response is the development of a transient period of resistance which occurs universally as a part of the cellular response to stress. All cells possess an intrinsic capacity to alter cellular metabolism in a manner which will allow them to acquire resistance to life-threatening conditions. This text summarizes results which support the hypothesis that, as a cell or tissue is recovering from injury, it will be more resistant to further injury. Standing orders placed before December 31st, 1996 will receive a 10% reduciton off the list price of all volumes published within the series between the order date and December 31st, 1997.
