Full Description
Traditional Turkish oya are delicate edgings for fabric-created using thread, knots, and beads. Designer Midori Nishida was fascinated by these edgings, and created a series of them based on traditional motifs of flowers, fruit, leaves and vines, and geometric designs such as scallops or stars. Step-by-step instructions for 18-20 edgings comprise the book, along with inspirational photos showing their use as trims for clothing, accessories, and home furnishing: everything from dresses, collars, pockets, cuffs, and hems; handbags, scarves, hats, and jewelry; and pillows, tablecloths, desk accessories, and kitchen linens. A section also discusses the history and traditions of Turkish oya.
