Der junge Sudhana, Protagonist mehrerer asiatischer Schriften, begegnet auf seiner Wanderschaft neun Lehrern. Nach jeder Begegnung verarbeitet er das Erfahrene und Gelernte. Dabei bleiben alle bisher aufgetretenen Gestalten gegenwärtig - eine Verwobenheit, die in dem perlenbesetzten Netz ihre bildhafte Entsprechung findet, welches den himmlischen Palast des Gottes Indra schmückt: Jede Perle ist ein Individuum, das gleichzeitig alle anderen Perlen in sich spiegelt. Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz' Klavierzyklus dynamisiert das buddhistische Konzept in einer Folge von Themenvariationen.

The young Sudhana, protagonist of several Asian writings, meets nine teachers on his journey. After each encounter, he processes the experienced and learned. In the process, all of the figures that have appeared so far remain present - a weaving that finds its pictorial equivalent in the beaded net, which adorns the heavenly palace of the god Indra: every pearl is an individual that simultaneously mirrors all other pearls. Wolfgang-Andreas Schultz's piano cycle makes the Buddhist concept dynamic in a series of theme variations.
