Softness in all its facets: in the built environment, bodily experiences, ecological and political spaces, and within us. Part one of Soft , 'On the Planetary', describes how softness stems from subtle processes that shape our complex world, from river silt and glacial ice to microplastics. 'At a Breaking Point' addresses norms, institutions, and housing blocks to reveal how architecture carries the weight of ideologies. Politics takes shape in textures, surfaces, and personal histories. 'Through Interaction' weaves stories from threads, organisms, and codes under the logic of malleability to question the idea of architecture as neutral or complete. Lastly, 'From the Margins' recognises everyday forms of resistance, from the quiet strength of women's lacework to homemaking in refugee camps.
