Description
(Short description)
(Text)
Forms of cooperation are inherent to scholarly practice in the humanities. By extrapolating on the symphilological term "reflection", this anthology presents fundamental notions relating to the theory and practice of cooperation in the philological disciplines. In a narrower sense, it explores forms of cooperation in different academic fields of the humanities. In a broader sense, it also examines these forms as found in the infrastructural embedding of projects, their external impacts and the communication encircling them. The evidentiary interest of this book is not restricted to historical constellations, but covers current perspectives and collaborative possibilities in the different branches of the humanities.
(Text)
Narratives in the history of the sciences and humanities often focus on individuals and their works. Nevertheless, forms of cooperation have always been part of academic practice in the humanities. Using the idea of 'Symphilologie' as a starting point for further reflections, this volume brings together contributions on the theory and practice of cooperation in philological scholarship. It explores forms of cooperation in various branches of the humanities as well as in the infrastructural integration of projects, its visibility and the communication condensing around them. Case studies contextualize motivations, projects and conflicts related to cooperation in the humanities. The aims and objectives of the volume are not confined to historical constellations, but also comprise current perspectives and possibilities of cooperation in the humanities. The analysis of forms of cooperation that can be covered by the term 'Symphilologie' contributes to the self-conception of philological scholarship.
