Welche Bedeutung hat das Übersetzen für die Überlieferung von Philosophie? Im vorliegenden Sammelband wird diese Frage kontrovers diskutiert - aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und anhand von konkreten Fällen. Ausgangspunkt dafür ist eine historische Konstellation als paradigmatisches Beispiel: die Überlieferung der akademischen Philosophie nach Japan am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Besondere an diesem Beispiel ist, dass die Übersetzung(en) ins Japanische die Begegnung mit der westlichen Philosophie dort eingeleitet hat. Ziel der hier versammelten Beiträge ist es, die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der Überlieferung philosophischen Denkens durch Übersetzung näher zu bestimmen.What is the significance of translation for the transmission of philosophy? The aim of the contributions gathered here is to further define the possibilities and limits of the transmission of philosophical thought through translation.

What is the significance of translation for the transmission of philosophy? These contributions discuss this question controversially - from different perspectives and on the basis of concrete cases.
