"Pari intervallo" ist 1976 anlässlich des Todes eines Freundes geschrieben worden und seinem Andenken gewidmet. Das grundlegende musikalische Material dieser Komposition sind zwei sich streng parallel bewegende Stimmen, deren Abstand zueinander also immer derselbe bleibt; daher der Titel. "Pari intervallo" erinnert an ein Choralvorspiel, dem die Worte "wir leben oder sterben, so sind wir des Herrn" (Römer 14/8) als Motto dienen könnten. (Arvo Pärt)Schwierigkeitsgrad: 1-2

"Pari intervallo" was composed in 1976 on the occasion of the death of a friend and is dedicated to his memory. The basic musical material consists of two parts which move exactly parallel to each other, so that the interval between them is always the same- hence the title. "Pari intervallo" is reminiscent of a chorale prelude which might be prefaced with the lines from Romans 14/8: "If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord."(Arvo Pärt)

Pärt's quiet meditation Pari Intervallo is available in several very diverse settings (4 recorders, organ solo, or clarinet and trombone with string orchestra), and UE now makes available this 2008 version, playable as piano duet or with two pianos. For intermediate to advanced pianists. Dur. c. 5'30"
