Description
This study does not understand longing as an emotion, but rather as a cultural, symbolic, and ethical structure of desire. Drawing on the work of Lacan and Lévinas, it develops a cultural-anthropological perspective in which longing-as a figure of incompleteness and of a responsive turning toward the Other-reveals the cultural efficacy of subject formation.
Peter Peinzger, independent scholar, Sankt Andreasberg, Germany.
