Description

This authoritative handbook explores the intricate relationship between legal language and communication across diverse legal contexts. It provides a comprehensive analysis of legal linguistics, examining how language shapes the creation, interpretation, and enforcement of laws. Drawing from linguistics, semiotics, legal theory, and digital communication studies, it investigates the dynamic ways in which legal meaning is constructed and conveyed. Moving beyond textual analysis, the handbook integrates semiotics, exploring both verbal and non-verbal communication in legal settings. It highlights the significance of visual semiotics symbols, iconography, body language, and courtroom gestures in legal interpretation and proceedings. Additionally, it delves into contemporary challenges posed by digital communication, including the legal implications of emojis, cyberbullying, and the role of artificial intelligence in legal discourse. With a strong international and comparative perspective, the handbook examines multilingual legal systems, translation challenges, and the intersection of law with cultural and technological shifts. It addresses how different legal traditions manage linguistic diversity, legal interpretation, and digital transformation, offering insights into emerging trends in legal communication.

Designed for legal practitioners, linguists, policymakers, technologists, and scholars, this handbook bridges disciplinary boundaries to provide a deeper understanding of how language and communication shape justice in an increasingly globalized and digitized world.
