Studying the ancient Semitic prophetic sources reveals the construction and originality of specifically Biblical prophesying. In this way, it stands apart from socio-religious and ancient cultural phenomena. And, as they were written down, prophesies could be reread and contextualized, hence becoming a 'living' word.
