EU and Member State Territories: The Special Relationship under Community Law is a new book, which examines the relationship under Community law between the relevant Member State territories and the EU.
These territories include: the Channel Islands and the Danish Faroe Islands, have chosen to remain outside the EU; Gibraltar and the Finnish Aland Islands that have elected to become partof the EU; others are part of a special group, for example, the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), including the UK Cayman Islands and the Netherlands Antilles, which are outside the EU.
This book clarifies the legal and constitutional relationship under the EC Treaties between each of these territories or groups of territories, their Member State and the EU. It also highlights challenges they may face in their future relations with the EU.
