Full Description
Written as a sequel to the "Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine", this text has been designed primarily for those taking up their first responsibilities in the major specialities of clinical medicine, whether as a clinical student, a junior doctor or a trainee general practitioner. It is intended to help trainees ask the right questions, advise on a preliminary diagnosis and institute correct treatment before experienced help arrives. However, it is intended to be more than just a compendium of causes and recipes for treatments, since it also gives sufficient background information for students who have never met a given topic before. Several new subjects have been added for this edition, including blood pressure in children, milks for preterm babies, height centile charts, autism, salivary gland disease, oral and dental disease, the correct use of graduated support hosiery, infestations, drowning and minor emergency procedures.
