Full Description
Optical measurement technologies play a critical role in advancing aerospace research by enabling precise monitoring of structures and materials under dynamic conditions. This collection highlights recent applications of fiber-optic and optical sensing techniques. Chapter 1 examines Doppler fiber-optic sensors for structural velocity estimation, providing high-fidelity dynamic data. Complementing this, fiber-optic sensors are applied to calibrate loads on a mock truss-braced wing, demonstrating their value for structural health and aerodynamic analysis in chapter 2. Chapter 3 extends optical diagnostics to spacecraft materials, analyzing the HORIS windowpane under flight conditions. Together, these studies illustrate the versatility of optical sensing in aerospace, bridging experimental methods with practical applications in structural evaluation, flight testing, and materials performance.
