"A l'occasion de l'exposition ""La photographie française existe , je l'ai rencontrée"" à la MEP en mars 2018, les éditions Contrejour publient la première monographie de Jean Francois Bauret Après deux années de travail voici enfin la première monographie du grand photographe Jean François Bauret qui fut considéré comme l'un des plus audacieux de son époque avant sa disparition en 2014. Elle réunit ses meilleures photographies et retrace sa vie et son oeuvre en passant en revue l'activité photographique française de ces quarante dernières années. Dans le bouillonnement des années 70, il fit scandale bien malgré lui et participa à changer les mentalités d'une société sclérosée en apportant un vent de liberté dans la publicité en faisant poser des hommes nus, des femmes enceintes, des gens ordinaires ou quelques artistes connus .

This is the first monograph to be published on the innovative French photographer.
Jean-Francois Bauret was a celebrated portrait photographer and pioneer of the `black and white` nude, whose images of men and women often scandalised the society of his time, but brought a wind of freedom to the world of portraiture and advertising. Bauret died in 2014 leaving behind an imaginative world of naked men and women, sometimes pregnant, ordinary people and famous artists.
In this work, Claude Nori, the founder of the publishing company Contrejour, and a famous photographer in his own right, gathers Bauret`s best photographs together, and accompanies these with an important text, that traces his life and his work through a review of French photographic activity over the last 40 years.
