In den Jahren 1713/14, in seiner Zeit als Weimarer Hoforganist, hatte Bach zahlreiche Konzerte zeitgenössischer Komponisten für Clavier oder Orgel allein bearbeitet. Über 20 Jahre später, 1735, veröffentlichte er dann mit seinem Concerto nach italiaenischen Gusto ein eigenes Werk, das man getrost als "summa summarum", als Höhepunkt der Gattung bezeichnen kann. Ein Autograph ist nicht erhalten, sodass für die Henle-Urtextausgabe der von Bach korrigierte Erstdruck als Hauptquelle diente. Die bereits dort enthaltenen Forte- und Piano-Bezeichnungen markieren den Wechsel der gedachten Tutti- und Soloabschnitte.

During the years 1713/14, when he held the position of court organist in Weimar, Bach arranged a large number of concertos by contemporary composers for keyboard or organ solo. More than 20 years later, in 1735, he published his Concerto in the Italian Style: a truly original work that can confidently be described as his "summa summarum," the climax of this genre. The autograph is no longer extant, which means that for Henle's Urtext edition, the first print - corrected by Bach - served as the main source. The forte and piano markings found in the work signalize the alternation between imaginary tutti and solo sections.

Italian Concerto F major BWV 971
Dans les années 1713/1714, Bach alors organiste de la cour à Weimar adapta pour clavier ou orgue seul de nombreux concertos de compositeurs contemporains. Plus de 20 ans après, le Concerto selon le goût italien qu'il publia en 1735 est une oeuvre personnelle que l'on peut qualifier sans conteste d'apogée du genre. Aucune copie manuscrite de ce concerto n'est par-venue à la postérité si bien que l'édition Henle-Urtext utilise comme source principale la pre-mière édition corrigée par Bach. Les indications forte et piano déjà présentes dans cette édi-tion marquent l'alternance entre les passages en tutti et en solo.
