Die "Klagelieder oder das Mädchen und die Nachtigall" stehen an vierter Stelle im sechsteiligen Klavierzyklus "Goyescas" (1909-11). Sein Titel geht auf den spanischen Maler Francisco de Goya zurück, von dessen Gemälden sich Granados inspirieren ließ. Die "Goyescas" beschwören ein Spanien der Goya-Zeit am Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts, galant und sinnlich, aber auch melancholisch und düster. Als thematische Klammer dient das Leben junger Verliebter. Die "Quejas" bilden darin den Wendepunkt, da aufkommende Eifersucht zu Klagen führt, in die die Nachtigall einstimmt. Der G. Henle Verlag bietet diese Nummer nun als Urtext-Einzelausgabe an, gilt sie doch wegen ihrer expressiven Intensität als Höhepunkt des Zyklus. This "Lament, or the maiden and the nightingale" is the fourth movement of Granados' six-part piano cycle Goyescas (1909-11). The cycle's title is derived from the name of the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, whose paintings inspired Granados. The Goyescas conjure up Goya's Spain of the late 18th century - chivalrous and sensual, but also melancholic and sombre. The overall theme is the life of two young lovers. The "Quejas" are a turning point in the cycle, because here jealousy leads to a lament that is joined by the song of the nightingale. The expressive intensity makes the movement the highpoint of the cycle for many, and G. Henle Verlag is now offering it as an individual Urtext edition. 4. Quejas o la maja y el ruiseñor
