In the summer of 1887 Fauré wrote his Pavane, originally intended for a concert providing light entertainment, which soon gained wide popularity as an orchestral setting. Die Musik der kleinen Formen sollte der Schwerpunkt des französischen Komponisten Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) werden. Der Lehrer von Camille Saint-Saëns trat nach Jahren in der "Provinz" 1874 eine Organistenstelle in Paris an, später ergänzte er seine kirchenmusikalische Funktion noch durch pädagogische Tätigkeiten. Im Sommer 1887 schrieb Fauré seine Pavane opus 50, ursprünglich gedacht für ein Konzert mit leichter Muse. Sie gewann rasch an Popularität, als Orchestersatz ohne und mit dem von Fauré noch dazugesetzten Chor. Die romantische, ein wenig melancholische Melodie ist ein echter Ohrwurm, der in der vorliegenden Bearbeitung nun auch solistisch mit Klavierbegleitung musiziert werden kann.Schwierigkeitsgrad: 2-3

In 1874, after many years spent in the 'provinces', the teacher of Camille Saint-Saëns took the position of organist in Paris; later he not only worked as a church musician but also as a teacher.
