This book has a multi-dimensional approach concerning the land use and water management system in South Indian History from the early to medieval period. Focus has been given to finding out the relationship between landscape and human settlements in the Kaveri and Krishna Delta regions. Different aspects, such as the formation of different categories of agrarian settlements, the policies adopted by the ruling dynasties towards agricultural expansion, the nature of the agricultural methods, seasonal variations of the crops, and the effect of the monsoon on agricultural production have thoroughly been nurtured. Attention has also been paid to studying land tenure and control systems.
