Full Description
For centuries, Russians have promoted the myth of Slavic brotherhood while waging brutal wars against Ukrainians—killing civilians, destroying cities, and threatening Kyiv. Their invasion defies realism and pragmatism, reflecting instead a deep-rooted denial of Ukrainian and Belarusian identities. Many Russians continue to regard these nations as branches of a single Russian people, their languages as dialects of Russian, and they readily accept Kremlin propaganda about protecting Russian speakers and "denazifying" Ukraine. This study seeks to analyse the origins of such beliefs and attitudes through a linguocultural lens.
