"...bombings, German sappers, restorers and rebuilders have totally wiped my modern works. Only the buildings which represent the bureaucratic side of my job as public officer forced to obey, have survived." (from a letter to B.Zevi 9/1974).
The Heating plant of the railway station of Florence is a piece of a jigsaw puzzle which miraculously survived to restorers and rebuilders who could have erased any trace of it. This survived fragment, tells either the story of architecture between monumentalism, rationalism and futurism or the complex personality of its architect.
