Full Description
Chance has turned Nathaniel Starbuck into a "copperhead", a Northerner who in the American Civil War fought on the side of the rebellious South. With the help of Allan Pinkerton, his chief spy, General McClellan is convinced that he can lead the Northmen to the gates of the rebel capital, Richmond. Starbuck, expelled from his regiment by its founder, the vain Washington Faulconer, will have to travel an arduous road to reunite with his comrades: he will pass through the inhuman jails of Richmond, he will cross the bloody and smoky battlefields of Virginia, and even he will infiltrate the high command of the northern army. Because Starbuck has joined the "shadow war" of treason and espionage, in which nothing is safe and no one can be trusted.
