This book aims to explore the myriad issues associated with urban regeneration. Through its discussions, it seeks to delve into the social, economic, and spatial dimensions of rebuilding cities. The text is divided into three parts. The first part examines the global perspective on urban regeneration, discussing the processes of city rebuilding in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. It also explores transportation systems and urban forms, with a focus on new urban centers. Noteworthy examples of effective town planning in new cities around London and newly developed Indian towns after independence are also included.
The second part focuses on creating regeneration strategies for Allahabad, a historically significant city in India. Allahabad, which was once the capital of the province and a center of administration, education, and culture, has played a pivotal role in shaping modern India. The University of Allahabad, also known as the Oxford of the East, has been a beacon of quality higher education.
The third part proposes regeneration strategies for Allahabad and other similar historic cities in India. These strategies are based on the educational and cultural aspects of the city and aim to preserve and strengthen the historic nodes that are integral to our countrys rich history and culture.
