Er absolvierte ein Toningenieurpraktikum, später studierte er Soziologie, Politikwissenschaft und Systematische Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Hamburg. Er ist Autor mehrerer Bücher, Dokumentationen und Radiobeiträge über Musik, Mediengeschichte, Medienforschung und Kunstthemen. Er war geschäftsführender Gesellschafter eines Musikverlags, 2008 zog er nach Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, wo er mit seiner Frau lebt. Roedelius, Hans-Joachim Hans-Joachim Roedelius ist ein deutscher Musiker von Experimental-, Ambient- und Elektronikmusik. Er ist bekannt vor allem als Mitbegründer der Krautrock-Bands Cluster und Harmonia sowie für sein Mitwirken an dem Ambient-Jazz-Trio Aquarello. Überdies betätigt er sich seit Beginn seiner musikalischen Karriere auch als Schriftsteller/Poet und im Bereich bildender Kunst, als Fotograf und Filmer.
