Es gibt nur wenige Publikationen zur Musik in Afghanistan, die auch aus Afghanistan selbst stammen. Dieses Buch ist eine Ausnahme, denn die verschiedenen Artikel gehen auf ein internationales Symposium zurück, das im November 2014 an der Kabul University in Kabul/ Afghanistan durchgeführt wurde, und sie stammen zum großen Teil auch aus der Feder afghanischer Musikforscher und Studenten der Musikwissenschaft. Daneben enthält das Buch Texte von Autoren aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Türkei. Das Buch ist zugleich ein Ergebnis aus der Kooperation zwischen dem UNESCO Lehrstuhl für Transkulturelle Musikwissenschaft der Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar und Institutionen in Afghanistan, allen voran die Kabul University, das Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) und Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA). - There are few publications on Afghan music research coming from Afghanistan itself. This book is an exception, since its contents are not only the result of an international symposium that took place at Kabul University, Kabul/ Afghanistan, in November 2014, but several of its contributions have been written by Afghan music scholars and musicology students, together with articles written by authors form Germany, Austria, and Turkey. The book is also an outcome of the cooperation between the UNESCO Chair on Transcultural Music Studies of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, Germany, and institutions in Afghanistan, primarily the Kabul University, the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) and Radio Television Afghanistan (RTA).
