Diese Publikation - vier Bände im Schuber - zeigt Olaf Nicolais Werk aus zahlreichen Perspektiven: Installationsansichten seiner jüngsten Einzelausstellungen in der Kunsthalle Bielefeld, der Kunsthalle Wien und dem Kunstmuseum St. Gallen treffen auf ein Langgedicht von Ulf Stolterfoht. Essays von renommierten internationalen Autoren über ausgewählte Arbeiten des Künstlers werden durch einen Index von Nicolais Oeuvre ergänzt. Jeder Band betrachtet das methodische Vorgehen des Künstlers anders; zusammengenommen entfalten sie ein reichhaltiges Portfolio möglicher Annäherungen an ein Werk, das selbst durch unterschiedliche Medien und eine Vielzahl ästhetischer Strategien gekennzeichnet ist. Olaf Nicolai (1962 Halle/Saale) ist bildender Künstler und lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Seit 2011 lehrt er als Professor für Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.This four-volume publication in a box portrays Olaf Nicolai's work from numerous perspectives: installation views ofhis recent solo exhibitions at Kunsthalle Bielefeld, Kunsthalle Wien and Kunstmuseum St. Gallen converge with a long poem by Ulf Stoltefort. Essays by renowned international writers on selected works by the artist are complemented with an index of Nicolai's oeuvre as such. Each volume looks at the artist's methodology differently; together, they enfold a rich portfolio of possible approaches to a work that is itself characterised by multiple media and aesthetic strategies. Olaf Nicolai (born 1962 Halle/Saale) is a visual artist and lives and works in Berlin. Since 2011 he teaches as a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
