Description
Wolfgang Spohn is an eminent figure in contemporary analytic philosophy. Though best known for his seminal work in formal epistemology, in particular for the inception and development of ranking theory, his philosophical interests are much broader, covering virtually all parts of theoretical philosophy. This collection of essays from colleagues, friends and former students reflects the wide variety of Spohn's philosophical interests. It contains articles on epistemology (e.g., the nature of knowledge and belief, ranking theory, formal theories of belief and its revision), theory of science (e.g., causality, induction, laws of nature), philosophy of language (e.g., theories of meaning, the semantics of counterfactuals) and philosophy of mind (e.g., intentionality, intuitions, free will) as well as on logic, ontology and game theory. Wolfgang Freitag, geb. 1972, studierte Philosophie, Geschichte und Politik in Konstanz, Liverpool, Austin/Texas und Oxford. 2005-2011 Akademischer Rat an der Universität Konstanz, 2011/12 Vertretung der Assistenzprofessur für Theoretische Philosophie an der Universität Bern. Seit 2012 vertritt er den Lehrstuhl für Philosophie (Lehrstuhl Prof. Kemmerling) an der Universität Heidelberg. Hans Rott, geb. 1959, Studium der Logik und Wissenschaftstheorie, Philosophie und germanistischen Linguistik an der LMU München; seit 1999 Professor für Theoretische Philosophie in Regensburg. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Philosophische Logik, Epistemologie, Sprachphilosophie Holger Sturm, geb. 1962, Studium der Logik & Wissenschaftstheorie, Philosophie und Theoretischen Philosophie in Frankfurt, München und Amsterdam. 1996 Promotion an der LMU München, 2010 Habilitation an der Universität Konstanz. Derzeit Vertretung einer Professur am Philosophischen Seminar der Universität Tübingen. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Sprachphilosophie, Logik, Ontologie, Erkenntnistheorie und Britischer Empirismus Alexandra Zinke, geb. 1982, studierte Philosophie und Mathematik in Konstanz und Pittsburgh; seit 2013 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Philosophie und Wissenschaftstheorie, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Logik, der Erkenntnistheorie und der Theorie der exakten Wissenschaften in Konstanz.
