Die Ausstellung und der gleichnamige Katalog In the Skeleton of the Stars, die thematisch in der Karibik und dem Amazonasbecken angesiedelt sind, widmen sich dem politischen Potenzial der Imagination. Sie zeigt Erinnerungen, Erzählungen und Geschichten, die diese Vorstellungswelt geprägt haben, darunter indigene Mythologien und die gewaltsame Eroberung des südamerikanischen Kontinents, durch das, was Édouard Glissant die "tropische Nacht" und ihre "Geister und Figuren, die auf den Schultern lasten" nennt. Die tropische Nacht - das Geräusch und die Stille, die Dunkelheit und das Licht - öffnet ein Portal zu verschiedenen Ordnungen der Wirklichkeit, befreit die Vorstellungskraft und erlaubt uns, unsere Position in der Welt zu re-konfigurieren.
In the Skeleton of the Stars ist inspiriert von der dekolonialen und ökologischen Vision des guyanischen Autors Wilson Harris. Seine Geschichten beschreiben eine Suche nach dem Einssein von Natur und Mensch und folgen dem alchemistischen Denken, in dem die materielle Welt untrennbar mit der menschlichen Seele verbunden ist. Harris stellt sich ein kollektives Unbewusstes vor, in dem Menschen, Natur, Flora und Fauna ein gemeinsames Dasein teilen und das Zeiten und Kulturen überbrückt.
Mit Werken von Minia Biabiany, Pamela Colman Smith, Karl Joseph und Marc-Alexandre Tareau, Mirtho Linguet, Loren Minzú, Beatriz Santiago Muñoz, Marcel Pinas und Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Decolonial Visions and Politics of the Imagination
The exhibition In the Skeleton of the Stars explores the political potential of the imagination, focusing on the Caribbean and the Amazon Basin. It showcases memories, narratives, and histories that have informed the region's imaginary, including indigenous mythologies and the violent conquest of the South American continent, through what Édouard Glissant has called the "tropical night" and its "spirits and figures that weigh on the shoulders." The tropical night-the sound and the silence, the darkness and the light-opens a portal to different orders of reality, unshackling the imagination and enabling us to re-configure our position in the world.
In the Skeleton of the Stars is inspired by the decolonial and ecological vision of the Guyanese writer Wilson Harris. His stories portray a quest for the union of nature and humanity, delving into the alchemist thinking in which the material world is inextricably connected to the human soul. Harris limns a collective unconscious in which humans, nature, flora, and fauna share a common being that bridges distances of time and cultural differences.
