Das Ohr der Stadt
Die Beziehungen zwischen dem öffentlichen Raum, seinen akustischen Dimensionen und dem menschlichen Körper bildet den Ausgangspunkt der künstlerischen Praxis von Fritjof Mangerich (geb. 1990 in Mettingen). In seinen ortsspezifischen Interventionen nutzt er Klang als plastisches Material, um sowohl die Psyche der Architektur als auch die organische Funktionsweise der menschlichen Wahrnehmung zu ergründen.
Im Mittelpunkt der ersten monografischen Publikation des Künstlers stehen seine Arbeiten eine andere Stimme, care, Dusk Piece und To the People of New York City. Die vier Werke entstanden zwischen 2015 und 2019 in Deutschland, Indonesien und den USA und zeigen exemplarisch Mangerichs plastische und akustische Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum. Mit der Beharrlichkeit eines Forschers untersucht er Ereignisse und Räume, um die akustischen Effekte, die sie erzeugen, in Beziehung zu architektonischen, sozialen oder politischen Kontexten zu setzen.

The Ear of the City
The interactions between public spaces with their acoustic dimensions and the human body are the point of departure for Fritjof Mangerich's (b. Mettingen, 1990) creative practice. In site-specific interventions, he harnesses sound as a malleable material for probing explorations of the psyche of architecture as well as the organic operations of human perception.
The artist's first monographic publication is centered on his works eine andere Stimme, care, Dusk Piece, and To the People of New York City. Created in Germany, Indonesia, and the United States between 2015 and 2019, the four works exemplify Mangerich's sculptural and acoustic interventions into public spaces. He scrutinizes events and environments with the tenacity of a researcher, setting the acoustic effects they engender in relation to architectonic, social, or political contexts.
