Ihre Kunst handelt weniger von den Objekten als vielmehr von den Wahrnehmungen, die den Betrachter die fotografierte Welt begreifen lassen. Dabei werden die Genres Fotografie, Video und Performance bisweilen miteinander verflochten.Die Frage, wie die Realität in der Großstadt beschaffen ist, wo sie ihre Spuren hinterlässt und wie sie den Menschen formt, von dem sie geformt wird, ist eines der wesentlichen Themen der Fotografie, die ihrerseits durch ihre Präsenz im urbanen Raum das Erscheinungsbild der Großstadt nicht unerheblich prägt. Vanja Vukovics Arbeit handelt von den Schwachstellen des öffentlichen Raums und des öffentlichen Lebens, von den Schattenseiten einer prosperierenden, urbanen Bewegungszone und den Menschen und Dingen, die sie durchdringen. Dies beinhaltet auch, die Aktivität des Fotografierens selbst zu beobachten und den Einfluss, den die Kamera ausübt, im Raum aufzuspüren. The question of what metropolitan reality is like, where it leaves its mark and how it shapes people who shape it for their part, is one of the essential themes of photography which in turn by its presence in urban space strongly influences the appearance of the metropolitan reality. Vanja Vukovic's work deals with the weak points of public space and public life, with the downsides of a prospering, urban mobility area and the people and things that pervade it. This also includes observing the activity of photography itself and detecting the camera's spatial impact. Her art deals not so much with objects as with perceptions that let the observer understand the photographed world. Vanja Vukovic, 1971 in Montenegro geboren, aufgewachsen in Stuttgart, ist eine in Deutschland lebende Fotokünstlerin und Fotodesignerin. Sie studierte Kommunikationsdesign, Schwerpunkt Fotografie (Diplom) sowie Medienkunst in Darmstadt und in Portsmouth, England. Ausserdem erfolgte ein Aufbaustudiengang in Freier Kunst an der Städelschule Frankfurt. Ausgezeichnet wurden ihre Arbeiten mit mehreren Preisen, unter anderem im Jahr 2007 Finalist of the Golden Award of Montreux sowie eine Auszeichnung beim 5. Aenne-Biermann-Preis. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Frankfurt am Main.Vanja Vukovic, born in Montenegro in 1971 and raised in Stuttgart, is a photographer and photo artist living in Germany. She studied communication design, majoring in photography (diploma) as well as media art in Darmstadt and in Pourtsmouth, England. This was followed by post-degree studies in Liberal Arts at the Staedelschule Frankfurt. She won several prices for her work, amongst others, as finalist at the Montreux Golden Award in 2007 and she was honoured at the Fifth Aenne Biermann Prize. She lives and works in Frankfurt/Main.
