Description
The volume collects the proceedings of the third conference in memory of Massimo Vetta (2024). The edition of Ecclesiazuse (1989) represented a significant turning point in his career as a scholar, marking a shift in focus between two primary research strands: archaic poetry and Attic theatre, with a particular emphasis on comedy. The philological reconstruction of the text, constant attention to the relationship between the scene and historical background, and a particular interest for dramaturgy and performance render this edition a fundamental reference point. Over the past thirty-five years, new analysis and interpretations have enriched the scholarship; now, fresh readings and horizons have been discussed by established and younger scholars, who make this volume an opportunity not only to pay tribute to the person and work of Massimo Vetta, but also to take stock of the current state of studies and research on the Ecclesiazuse.
