(Text)
This selection from Branko Lenart's wide-ranging oeuvre presents a collection of art work produced from 1975 to 2012. But even if much of this work is known from other compilations and different contexts, many items suddenly bear new titles, thus introducing current, topical dimensions of content. The »Hand:Works« are largely conceptual, but they project an additional meta-level of meaning through the portrayal of people, topographies, texts, as well as the memories of their original contexts, combining them to form a new whole. A striking feature of these pictures is the method of holding something in view of the camera or of bringing something into the photograph which extends into the periphery, the off, as it were. This allows the photographer to stand behind the camera and, at the same time, become a visible part of the motif.
