Description
(Text)
The timeless charm of old-style
wooden toys emerges from every
page of this paper pop-up. Simple
shapes and vivid colors bring classic
toys such as the red fire truck,
the baby bassinet, and the farmer's
tractor to life.
Through the voice of a young
child full of imagination, each toy
is given a storyline. At the end of
the day, the child bids goodnight
to all the toys scattered across the
bedroom, promising to pick them
up tomorrow.
Gérard Lo Monaco's talent with
paper is used to create an ingenious
three-dimensional world of
toys presented through endearing
vignettes dreamt up by a child's
creative mind. Lively onomatopoeias
add playfulness to every page,
making it fun to read this pop-up
book aloud while turning its pages.
(Review)
"A gorgeous pop-up book."
-GatheringBooks.org
"On each of 10 splendidly crafted pages, classic toys spring up - from an elephant on wheels and a doll cradle to a fire engine with eight little firefighters. The paper engineering is the finest you'll find, the spare text playful, perfect. Your heart may melt every time you reach the 'lights out' page and the child says 'Good night, my toys.'"
-Nashville Parent
"Delightful . . . One of the nice features is that the pop-ups are activated simply by opening each page, and the book has no fragile moving parts, meaning it should survive repeated use."
-Booklist
"This small world of paper is a big treasure of creativeness and knowledge."
-Kid's Wear Magazine
"A paper engineered work of art . . . an utter delight."
