Der Japaner Ryoji Ikeda und der aus Deutschland stammende Carsten Nicolai sind führende Vertreter der zeitgenössischen elektronischen Musik und Klangkunst. 1999 gründeten sie das Projekt cyclo., das ganz im Zeichen der Visualisierung von Sound steht. In ihren gemeinsamen Arbeiten generieren die beiden Künstler neue hybride Formen audiovisueller Kunst und loten die Grenzen digitaler Technik aus. Die erste Publikation des Projektes cyclo. id ein Buch mit begleitender CD-ROM - ist eine multimediale, interaktive Sammlung des seh- und hörbaren Materials, das Nicolai und Ikeda in langjähriger Zusammenarbeit erforscht haben. The visualization of sound presented in book form and accompanied by a CD-ROM by Carsten Nicolai, the creator of our successful Grid Index and Moiré Index titles. Ryoji Ikeda and Carsten Nicolai both work at the cutting-edge of contemporary electronic music and sound art. In 1999, the two artists initiated the joint project cyclo., which is devoted to the visualization of sound. In their shared work, they generate new hybrid forms of audiovisual art and expand the possibilities of digital technology.
