Full Description
An investigation of the controversy and alleged contradiction between European Modernism and Indian lifestyle that arose from Le Corbusier's commission to build an ideal modern city in India. Today Chandigarh is a vibrant metropolis, while, at the same time, the originally planned garden city was able to retain its character. The text and photography of this urban portrait examines the process by which Le Corbusier's principles and systems of rules and regulations were adopted in this unique planned Indian city.
