Johann CarI Bertram Stüve (1798-1872) war ein bedeutender Politiker und Staatsmann im Königreich Hannover, dessen Reformwerk und Schreiben zu Unrecht nahezu in Vergessenheit geraten sind. Anliegen der Untersuchung ist es, die historische Bedeutung Stüves erneut ins Bewusstsein zu heben. Die Bauernbefreiung im Königreich Hannover Johann Carl Bertram Stüve (1798-1872) was mayor of the city of Osnabrück und represented Osnabrück as deputy in the Estates Assembly (Ständeversammlung). Between 1848 and 1850, he was Minister of the Interior of the Kingdom of Hanover. As deputy in the Estates Assembly, Stüve initiated and promoted laws to remove financial burdens from the peasants (liberation of peasants). As Minister of the Interior, he asserted various reforms in the revolutionary years of 1848/1849. In addition to his state and local government offices, Stüve wrote numerous essays on historical developments and on state theory. These essays secured him an honourable place on the side of another great son of the city of Osnabrück - Justus Möser. This monograph shall remind.of Stüve's reforms and scientific contribution and underline his significance for the history of the kingdom of Hanover. Dr. iur. Jörn Ipsen ist emeritierter Professor für Öffentliches Recht an der Universität Osnabrück. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf den Gebieten des Staatsrechts, des Verwaltungsrechts und der Verfassungsgeschichte. Neben zahlreichen Lehrbüchern und Kommentaren hat er Monographien (»Der Staat der Mitte« [2009]; »Macht versus Recht« [2017]) publiziert. Von 2007 bis 2013 war er Präsident des Niedersächsischen Staatsgerichtshofs.
