The contributions to this volume examine Hamann's correspondence from a literary, philosophical and theological perspective and offer insights not only to the work of Hamann, which is truly difficult to understand, but also to 18th-century epistolary culture. Dialogische Vernunft - Grundfragen der Aufklärung im Briefgespräch mit Johann Georg Hamann The author Johann Georg Hamann (1730-1788) from Königsberg was a dialogical thinker. He was inspired and challenged in diverse ways by contemporary literature, but his thoughts were also an inspiration and a challenge to his dialogue partners. This is reflected particularly in his correspondence with Kant, Herder, Jacobi, Lavater, Claudius and others. Hamann and his correspondents struggled with fundamental questions of human existence between the poles of everyday experience and wisdom, sensuality and reason. Dr. Manfred Beetz ist seit 1994 Professor für Neuere Deutsche Literatur an der Universität Halle-Wittenberg.
Prof. Dr. Johannes von Lüpke lehrte von 1995-2017 Systematische Theologie an der Kirchlichen Hochschule Wuppertal/Bethel. Prof. Dr. Eric Achermann lehrt seit 2004 Neuere Deutsche Literatur mit Schwerpunkt Frühe Neuzeit an der Universität Münster.Dr. Anja Kalkbrenner hat Deutsche Philologie, Englische Philologie und Philosophie in Münster und Thessaloniki studiert und wurde 2014 an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster promoviert.
Dr. Knut Martin Stünkel ist Privatdozent für allgemeine Literaturwissenschaft und Religionsphilosophie an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Zudem ist er im Käte Hamburger Kolleg »Dynamiken der Religionsgeschichte« am Centrum für religionswissenschaftliche Studien (CERES) tätig.Dr. Manfred Beetz ist seit 1994 Professor für Neuere Deutsche Literatur an der Universität Halle-Wittenberg.
