Description

(Text)
This book established the level of awareness of Community Based Associations in promoting democratic governance in Local Government administration in Nigeria with particular reference to Edo State. In order to achieve this, the study ascertained the degree of awareness of political participation, awareness of the observance of the rule of law, awareness of their roles in promoting human rights, and equal justice, awareness of the roles they can play in promoting transparent economic and corporate governance of Local Government administration. At the end of the field survey using the questionnaire and face-to-face interview instruments of data collection, various recommendations were proffered, some of which are: (1) That CBAs should sensitize and energize themselves to work as an active force in Local Govt Admin in order to facilitate the designing and re-designing of the community and peoples' needs from time - to - time. (2) That CBAs should be actively involved in the monitoring of local government activities in the areas of Projects Planning, Projects Contract Award mechanisms, Implementation processes, and evaluation of all Local Govt. projects.
