Ayurvedic and herbal approaches for cancer treatment are very popular among Indian patients. Ayurveda is made of two Sanskrit words: Ayu which means life and Veda which means knowledge. Rasayanas literally means "the path of juice" or "juice incorporate" are group of complex herbal drug preparations widely used in Ayurveda to improve the general health of body. These have immunostimulatory effect. They are not directly cytotoxic to tumor cells but have shown to inhibit the growth of ascites and solid tumor in mice. Rasayans could increase survival. Rasayans also reduce myelosuppression in patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
