Description

(Text)
This study sought to explore the applicability of collective action theories in a typical Zimbabwean communal setting. For purposes of this study, the following four attributes of collective action prominent in literature, were examined: organisation, mobilisation, interest and opportunity. The attributes of collective action, as defined in literature, are examined using empirical examples from Chishawasha Communal Area. This study attempted to understand some of the issues associated with collective action, largely viewed to be important for successful implementation of social development projects.Collective Action is common in engagements perceived by community members as being beneficial to them.
