August Stramm, 29. 7. 1874 Münster - 1. 9. 1915 bei Brest-Litowsk (Russland). Der Sohn eines Postbeamten trat nach dem Abitur 1893 selbst in den Postdienst ein und stieg im Verwaltungsdienst auf. 1905 wurde er nach Berlin versetzt; als Gasthörer studierte er Nationalökonomie, Geschichte und Philosophie und promovierte 1909 in Halle mit einer Arbeit über das Weltporto zum Dr. phil. Als Hauptmann der Reserve wurde er bei Kriegsbeginn eingezogen und fiel als Bataillonskommandeur an der Ostfront. S. begann nach der Jahrhundertwende mit dramatischen Dichtungen naturalistischer und lyrisch-symbolistischer Art.
