Description
The construction sector particularly needs radical changes, prompt action, investment and policies to encourage more sustainable practices. To address this challenge, we need future-oriented approaches to analyze the environmental impact of the life cycle of buildings.
This work is intended for civil engineers and sustainability experts and presents a novel approach to life cycle assessment (LCA) of buildings. A novel algorithm for predictive life cycle modeling is at the core of the developed approach. The algorithm enables predictive, probabilistic and dynamic LCA analyses to be performed. The approach explores different design alternatives and facilitates the selection of those with better long-term environmental performance. Dynamic and probabilistic approaches are integrated to handle data variabilities and uncertainties. Overall, the developed methodology facilitates environmental quality-driven decision-making in uncertain circumstances. It also helps stakeholders meet environmental requirements and targets.
