After teaching a course in Cultural History for a number of years a course in which students were introduced to the ideas of the main "modern" European theorists of culture students would ask me what I thought culture might be. In response, I wrote some private notes for them and published a few papers on the topic. Now I have had a chance to bring those things together as a book on the subject. This is it.
