This study provides an opportunity to analyze the dimensions of ageism in different contexts. Based on these analyses, the exposure levels of older individuals to ageism in aging societies and the discriminatory attitudes of younger generations have been revealed.
As part of the project "WISELIFE: Raising Awareness About Ageism", this book investigates the concept of ageism in Turkey, Hungary, Poland and Italy.
It is an essential resource for institutions working with older people, non-governmental organizations, academic circles dealing with age discrimination, and organizations such as the continuing education centers and lifelong learning centers providing education for older people to understand age discrimination and the situation of this concept in Europe.

The attitudes of societies towards age in an aging Europe have now become a social phenomenon. This study, which examines and deals with this phenomenon in various European countries, provides an opportunity to analyze the dimensions of ageism in different contexts. Based on these analyses, the exposure levels of older individuals to ageism in aging societies and the discriminatory attitudes of younger generations have been revealed.
The book aims at making contributions to the field of ageism in European countries and contains a brief literature review on ageism and descriptive analyses in country context. As part of the project "WISELIFE: Raising Awareness About Ageism" funded by EU ERASMUS+, this book investigates the concept of ageism in Turkey, Hungary, Poland and Italy.

Working at Izmir University of Economics, School of Foreign Languages since 2008, Nesrin Oruç Ertürk has earned her PhD degree from Anadolu University in 2007, assigned as an Assoc. Prof. Dr. in 2014 and appointed as Prof. Dr. in 2019. Her main interest areas are Lifelong Learning, teacher training, and second language acquisition. She has published many books and has many articles published in national and international journals. She has carried research and taught abroad in departments of linguistics at different universities (State University of New York, SUNY, USA; Universidad de Alcala, Spain). Since 2015, she has been assigned as the director of EKOSEM (Izmir University of Economics, Continuing Education Center) and is a member of the Executive Board of TUSEM (The Council of Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centers).
