Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) accounts for a considerable part of neoplastic disease, and its incidence is constantly rising, not only in Asia, but also among Western populations. Moreover, to the predominant viral etiology have come toxic/metabolic causes. This publication features up-to-date reviews on basic mechanisms, epidemiological risk factors, screening and surveillance strategies.
