Description
The "small guides" illustrate churches, monasteries, palaces, castles, regions with a special artistic background, cities and museums in Europe. When collected, they supply a richly illustrated topographical library of European art treasures. On the basis of current research, the "small guides" give an informed overview on history, architects, style, epoch and the significance of images of the respective places. The texts are concise and intelligible for all and may be read in the time at the disposal for a visit. The modern layout and the brilliant photographs make the reader to delight in the lecture and to resume it at home. As a supplement to the "small guides", more than 270 "big guides" have been published up to now. They offer more detailed information in a bigger format. Some monuments are presented by audio books or audio guides for iPhones or smartphones, produced by our subsidiary company Artguide. Around 1130, Lorsch Monastery also foundedNeuburg Monastery in the Neckar Valley. This monastery had a very eventful history. Benedictine monks have been working here again since 1926. On the beautiful floodplain in the Steinach Valley, the Bishop of Worms, Burkhard II, founded the Cistercian monastery of Schönau in 1142. The former monks' refectory of the monastery now serves as a Protestant church.
