Anyone who speaks of 'Biblical Hermeneutics' is based on the conviction that the one truth of the divided Christian Bible requires an interpretation that perceives the binding nature of its message and communicates it in an understandable manner. Volume 12 of the "Yearbook for Biblical Theology" addresses this task in several ways. It deals with the question of whether a biblical theology can be conceptually based on both the Old and the New Testament. Several contributions see the cardinal question of Biblical hermeneutics in the hermeneutical problem of the Old Testament. Answering these questions in such a way that Jewish positions can also be adequately reflected on represents a particular challenge for Christian exegetes.
