Der Band beschäftigt sich mit unterschiedlichen Formen derpädagogischen Auseinandersetzung mit dem Holocaust - internationalbezeichnet als "Holocaust Education" - an unterschiedlichenOrten, in verschiedenen Ländern und bezogen auf unterschiedlicheAdressatengruppen. Eine zentrale Fragestellung hierbeilautet, wie im 21. Jahrhundert der Holocaust pädagogisch noch zumThema werden kann, wenn es hierfür immer weniger möglich ist, auf diedirekte Begegnung mit Zeitzeugen zurückzugreifen. Mit unterschiedlicherSchwerpunktsetzung wird das Ziel der Holocaust Education von den Autorinnenund Autoren als ein doppeltes gesehen: die Aufklärung über dassinguläre Menschheitsverbrechen Holocaust und die Stärkung humanerHaltungen im Blick auf Menschenrechte und deren Verletzungen in derGegenwart.This volume is concerned with different forms of the educationalcoming to grips with the Holocaust - internationally referred to as"Holocaust Education" - at different places, in different countries,and with respect to different target groups. A central issue is the question of how education can address the Holocaust in the 21st century when it becomes less and less possible to have a direct encounter with eyewitnesses. Emphasizing different aspects, the contributors view the aim of Holocaust Education as a double one: to enlighten people about the Holocaust as a singular crime against humanity, and to strengthen in them a positive attitude towards human rights in the present.
