Die für ihre Porträtgemälde berühmte Künstlerin Elizabeth Peyton ( 1965 in Danbury, Connecticut) hat seit den 1990er-Jahren auch eine breite Palette an Druckgrafiken geschaffen, darunter Monotypien, Lithografien, Holzschnitte und Radierungen. Sie benutzt dabei eine Vielzahl verschiedener, auch handgemachter, Papiere und experimentiert mit verschiedenfarbigen Druckfarben. Die Liste der von ihr Porträtierten reicht in beiderlei Medien von historischen Figuren wie William Shakespeare und Richard Wagner über Künstler wie Frida Kahlo, David Hockney oder Robert Mapplethorpe bis hin zu Popstars wie Eminem oder Kurt Cobain. In jüngerer Zeit hat Peyton sich auch dem Stillleben zugewandt, um seine heutige Relevanz zu erproben.
Diese Monografie untersucht erstmals ausführlich Elizabeth Peytons Bedeutung für die Druckgrafik. Der Band präsentiert über 70 Farbabbildungen und enthält zudem das erste vollständige Verzeichnis ihrer Grafiken bis heute.

Well known for her painted portraits, Elizabeth Peyton (1965 inDanbury, Connecticut) has created since the 1990s a broad range of prints, including monotypes, lithographs, woodcuts, and etchings. Experimenting with different techniques, she also uses a variety of diverse and handmade papers as well as various colored and monochromatic inks. Her portrayed subjects historical figures such as William Shakespeare and Richard Wagner; visual artists such as Frida Kahlo, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, and Robert Mapplethorpe; pop stars such as Eminem and Kurt Cobain; as well as her friends populate both her prints and paintings. More recently, Peyton has turned to the genre of the still life to explore its contemporary relevance.
